AI Scan-to-BIM reference workflow.

Capture the point cloud reference your BIM team models against — on your own schedule, with a rented Lixel K2.

Volumet rents the scanner and supports the capture workflow. Volumet does not deliver BIM models — your BIM team or a processing partner does the modelling.

The reference layer comes first.

Every Scan-to-BIM workflow starts with trustworthy as-built data. A rented Lixel K2 lets your team capture that reference layer directly: walk the building, process the capture in LixelStudio, and export point clouds — LAS, E57, RCP — that drop into Revit, AutoCAD, and common BIM pipelines as modelling reference.

XGRIDS workflows include AI-assisted processing steps that help clean and structure captures, but the modelling itself remains the craft of your BIM team or a processing partner. That separation is deliberate: you control schedule and site access; specialists control model quality.

Who uses it

Built for teams that already model.

Architecture practices

As-built reference for renovation and adaptive reuse projects.

Contractors

Verification capture — as-built vs design intent at key milestones.

Renovation teams

Existing conditions captured before demolition or fit-out.

Workflow

Capture to model, step by step.

1
Scope
Define the areas, tolerance expectations, and the formats your modelling team needs.
2
Capture
Walk the building with the rented K2 — coverage planning and loop closures matter most here.
3
Export
Process in LixelStudio; export LAS / E57 / RCP point clouds for the BIM environment.

From point cloud to as-built drawings.

The point cloud the rented Lixel K2 captures is the raw reference behind several downstream deliverables. Going from point cloud to BIM is the most common path, but the same capture also underpins 2D as-built drawings and a measured building survey when that is what your project needs — floor plans, elevations, and sections traced against a dimensionally faithful record of the space as it actually stands.

Each of those is produced by your team or a processing partner working from the captured data — Volumet rents the scanner and supports the capture, it does not draft as-built drawings or sign off a measured building survey. The advantage of capturing the reference yourself is control: one walk-through records the whole space, and the same point cloud can feed a BIM model, a set of as-built drawings, and a coordination layer without re-visiting site.

Accuracy honesty

Accuracy depends on the whole chain.

The K2 is specified around 1 cm relative accuracy, but what reaches your model depends on capture technique, site conditions, control strategy, and processing. For LOD expectations and tolerance-critical work, agree requirements with your modelling team before capture — and say so in your rental enquiry.

Scan-to-BIM reference, answered.

Does Volumet deliver BIM models?
No. Volumet rents the capture equipment and supports the capture workflow. BIM modelling is done by your team or a processing partner — Volumet can introduce partners where useful.
Is the Lixel K2 suitable for Scan-to-BIM?
Yes — for reference capture. The K2 produces point clouds that work well as a modelling reference layer for renovation, as-built documentation, and coordination workflows. Suitability for tolerance-critical work depends on requirements.
What formats does my BIM team receive?
Common working formats include LAS, LAZ, E57, and RCP for Revit/AutoCAD reference, depending on the processing workflow.
What accuracy can I expect?
Around 1 cm relative accuracy at device level, with real-world results depending on technique, site conditions, control, and processing. Define tolerances with your modelling team before capture.
